LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Derek Willis isn’t much of a talker. He’ll be the first to acknowledge he’s not outgoing and usually keeps to himself.
But there’s one friend in particular, a special Solid Blue fan, that’s bringing out a different side to Derek and keeping basketball in perspective for the junior forward.

Zach Pickard, the Lexington boy diagnosed with progeria as an infant, is now 8 years old and about to start the third grade at Stonewall Elementary. He is tiny, just 29 pounds and three feet tall but he is also mighty. Although progeria is a cruel disease — limiting growth and causing a raft of health problems — Zach is a whirlwind of chatter.
